  • If you get vaccinated at an AusVaxSafety surveillance site, you will receive an invitation via SMS or email to participate in a survey regarding side effects following vaccination.  
  • Participation in the survey is voluntary.
  • AusVaxSafety does not store any identifying data; your personal information is removed before analysis to protect your privacy. 

If you are getting a vaccine from an immunisation provider who is participating in AusVaxSafety, you will have the opportunity to complete an AusVaxSafety vaccine safety survey. 

You will receive a text message or email with a unique link to your vaccine safety survey a few days after vaccination.

Complete the survey to contribute to AusVaxSafety surveillance. 

Your survey response will help AusVaxSafety monitor the safety of vaccines across Australia. Data collected are published on this website to provide a profile of what to expect in the days following vaccination and can be used by others when planning vaccinations. 

FAQs for immunisation recipients


How do I report a vaccine side effect?

If you are vaccinated at a provider participating in AusVaxSafety, you can complete your AusVaxSafety vaccine safety survey to report any side effects that you experienced after vaccination. 

You can also report your side effects directly through the Therapeutic Goods Administration.


Does it cost me anything to participate in AusVaxSafety?

No, it is free to participate in AusVaxSafety.


When does the survey link expire?

The survey link is unique to you and will expire 3 days after it is first sent. You will receive a reminder SMS or email if you haven’t completed your survey in the first 24 hours.


Will AusVaxSafety ever contact me directly to follow up on my survey responses? 

No, AusVaxSafety only receives de-identified survey data and, therefore, cannot contact you directly. The immunisation provider who gave you the vaccine may follow up with you directly based on your responses.


What happens to the information I provide?

Your responses will contribute to the national vaccine safety surveillance program that AusVaxSafety is conducting as part of Australia's comprehensive vaccine safety monitoring.


What about my personal data?

AusVaxSafety does not store any identifying data. To protect your privacy, any information that could identify you is removed before analysis.


Do I need to participate in AusVaxSafety?

No, if you do not wish to participate, you can unsubscribe or ignore the survey SMS text messages or emails from AusVaxSafety.
